Who is Botox For?

Only an individual can decide if they are ready to receive a treatment of Botox. Once a patient has decided they would like treatment, their physician or provider can determine whether Botox is right for them.

Who should NOT receive Botox?

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Botox or have had an allergic reaction to any of the botulinum toxins like Myobloc (rimabotulinumtoxinB), Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA), or Disport (abobotulinumtoxinA), do not use Botox. If you have an infection at the site of injection, then Botox is not right for you. You should alert your provider if you have had Botox injected for therapeutic reasons, for example, if you have had Botox Cosmetic for hyperhidrosis, as this may make your treatment less effective.

Tell your provider if...

Make sure you tell your doctor or provider about all your muscle or nerve conditions, such as myasthenia graves, Easton-Lambert syndrome, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease), as you my be at risk of serious side effects including dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) and (difficulty breathing).

You should tell your provider if you have plans to have surgery, had surgery on you face, weakness of forehead muscles, such as trouble raising your eyebrows, drooping eyelids, any other abnormal facial changes, planning to become pregnant or are pregnant (whether or not your unborn baby will be harmed by Botox Cosmetic is unknown), or plan to breast-feed, as it is not known whether the Botox Cosmetic will pass into breast milk.

How is the treatment performed?

Botox Cosmetic is relatively short procedure, typically only taking 10 minutes to perform with little to no downtime. Immediately after treatment, you may notice some minor swelling and redness that typically resolves quickly.

With a few small injections, Botox works by blocking the nerve transmission to the muscles in your forehead, called the corrugated and procures muscles, reducing their movement. Within 24-48 hours, you may notice improvement in the treated area but typically the results take 3-7 days and peak in 2 weeks. Results typically take about 3 months. Not all patients will have the same length of treatment results, and the results do vary from patient to patient.

Possible Side Effects:

Possible side effects include rash, red itchy welts, itching, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint. Serious and/or immediate allergic reactions have been reported. Spread of the toxin can cause serious symptoms including loss of strength and all-over muscle weakness, hoarseness or change of loss of voice, trouble saying words clearly, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, or loss of bladder control. If you have any of these side effects, tell your provider immediately.

Juvederm Dermal Filler

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid (HA) used to treat the smile lines (parentheses) and areas around the mouth. Juvederm is a unique HA because unlike some of its competitors, Juvederm gel has HYALACROSS technology which gives Juvederm its special smooth consistency. Juvederm comes in two different gel formulations, Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus. The two different formulas can also be mixed with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to decrease discomfort on injection. When mixed with lidocaine, the gels will be labeled Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Ultra Plus XC.

The most common side effects are mild site redness, pain/tenderness, swelling, bumps/lumps, and bruising. Side effects are generally mild to moderate and last one week or less.

Juvederm is the number one selling dermal filler in the United States.

Who Should Receive Juvederm?

Juvederm is recommended for almost any patient that begins to notice even the earliest signs of facial aging. As specialists in Juvederm injection, we will make recommendations. Unfortunately, pregnant patients, patients breastfeeding, and patients under the age of 18 are not currently recommended to receive Juvederm.

Juvederm gel is not recommended in patients with a history of multiple allergies or allergies severe enough to cause anaphylaxis. It is also not recommended for patients with allergies to Gram-positive bacterial proteins. If a patient presents with a history of an allergy to lidocaine, they should not receive the XC versions of Juvederm Ultra or Ultra Plus.

What are the Juvederm Treatment Areas?

Juvederm can be used to treat smile lines (nasolabial folds), vertical lip lines, oral commissures (corners of the mouth), marionette lines, and chin wrinkles.

Juvederm is an in-office procedure that is typically done in less than one hour depending on the number of treatment areas. Patients experience minimal discomfort and are able to return to normal activities afterwards. Immediately after treatment, you should see the results of smoother, less noticeable wrinkles and folds.

Sculptra

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra Aesthetic is poly-L-lactic acid or PLLA. PLLA has been used for years in dissolvable stitches and medical implants. It is biocompatible and will not harm your body. PLLA works by gradually replacing the lost collagen. The results are natural and can last up to 25 months, which is longer than most other dermal fillers.

Is Sculptra Aesthetic Right For You?

Sculptra Aesthetic is used in people with healthy immune systems as a one-time treatment regimen of up to 4 injection sessions. The treatments are scheduled  about 3 weeks apart because Sculptra Aesthetic gradually replaces lost collagen to restore a natural-looking appearance.

Where Can You Use Sculptra?

  • Sculptra Aesthetic is not for use in the lips.
  • Sculptra Aesthetic is not recommended for use around the eyes.

PDO Threadlift

What is PDO Threadlift?

The PDO (polydioxanone) threadlift is a procedure that uses surgical suture material that has been used for more than 30 years. The threads are a synthetic absorbable suture material that is used in almost every type of surgery performed. The threads can be used to lift sagging skin, improve collagen, and stimulate neovascularization. This all aids in improving the look of skin texture, fine lines and elasticity.

How Does It Work?

The PDO threadlift is a minimally invasive procedure that is done in-office under local anesthesia. The threads are inserted with either a blunt or sharp needle. The procedure generally takes about 15-30 minutes and only causes mild discomfort.

Results from PDO Threadlift

The possibilities are endless, which is why we recommend coming in for a complimentary consultation. The results are almost immediate and skin improvement is seen over months. The PDO threads will dissolve and leave in their place collagen and healthier, more vibrant skin.  Side effects include bruising, swelling, soreness and dimpling. Typically the side effects are temporary with long term side effects being very rare.
